Projects + Activities

  • Create bodice pattern block with Seam Allowance, Notches
  • Use Dart Pivoting for diverse bust and waist dart designs
  • Implement Princess Seams for both Bodice Front and Back
  • Explore Yokes, horizontal fit lines, Torso darts, asymmetrical darts
  • Include Collars, Roll Lines, Button-Down shirt CF Extensions, Sleeve variations, and A-line, Yoke, Tier, Trumpet/gored designs

Jaclyn Everett

Being a Philadelphia native, Jaclyn is invested in seeing the local fashion industry regain the momentum it once had.  Her career focus has been a “slow fashion” approach to luxury women’s clothing; working predominantly at small brands doing everything from Patternmaking to hand-beading. Jaclyn is excited to be able to share her experience and teach people how to do the things she loves most.

FAQs

Who is this course for?

You should already have basic sewing skills or take our Sewing 1 course, and our Patternmaking 1 course

What supplies do I have to buy?

You will need a machine at home for homework. We recommend the Singer Heavy Duty 4411.

I haven’t taken class with you, but am I an experienced sewer. Can I start with an advanced class?

If you are familiar with threading and winding a bobbin on an industrial machine, understand grain line and seam allowance, and can sew plain seams, you are eligible for this course. If it has been a while since you've sewn on an industrial machine, we recommend becoming a MemberYou can work on your personal projects and work in the studio throughout the week to refamiliarize yourself with the machine.

Will there be homework?

Yes, you will have assignments to work on at home throughout the courses. You can expect to have 1-2 hours of homework each week.

Do I have access to the studio outside of class time?

No, only Studio Members and Designer Development Program students have open studio access. Click to become a Member

What is the Refund Policy?

100% refund will be given if you need to cancel your order up until the original registration deadline. 50% refund will be given if you need to after the original registration deadline has passed, but before the first day of class. 0% refund will be given if you cancel on or after the first day of class.

I started taking classes, but now want to join the program. Is that possible?

This class does not transfer into the Designer Development Program.
